Extra info: Directions – Print out map and directions emailed to you by hare raiser. Study them carefully. Drive to Ace Club for 1pm. Pick up hashers or get picked up. Head towards New Ain Sukhna Road, but DO NOT TAKE NEW AIN SUKHNA ROAD. Instead, set your tripmeter to zero at the petrol station near the junction, and keep straight ahead on the narrow, busy, potholed old Ain Sukhna Rd. If possible, avoid large on-coming trucks in middle of road and vast, bottomless potholes occupying rest of the road. Proceed quickly past the nuclear materials research establishment avoiding mutant dogs. At approx 5.6km (300m after a Caltex Petrol station) turn right, on a newly constructed, smooth concrete road. Follow this road through a garbage dump and under a bridge to some toll booths. There is now a brief moment of uncertainty, with 2 possibilities for the way onward. Either:-
1. Turn R off the surfaced road about 50m before the toll booths and follow dirt roads marked with discreet markers until you join the dirt road in 2 below. Note that this option may displease the toll-booth operators, so be sure to smile and wave politely at them if they gesticulate angrily in your direction. This route may be impassable (especially for saloons), as large rocks and piles of dirt mysteriously appear, blocking the track from time to time, in which case you will have to revert to 2 below.
2. Pay 5 LE to use the old toll road. After 1.5 metres (yes, that’s right about 5 feet!) turn Right off the toll road into the desert. Follow boxes and bottles to the run site.
