The Trail We were back in Wadi Digla Protectorate for Hash 1408, a little way in on the left, by the broken-down buildings. It was at the earlier time of 1pm, because many folk were off to the Marriott Hotel for the Saint Patrick’s Day Ball. Your scribe was with the runners, as we headed east along the wadi floor then up into the foothills of the southern cliffs. In fact, your scribe was lagging behind, following Good In Bed on a sneaky shortcut by staying on the valley floor. We strolled past two cars, where two young Egyptian couples were having a BBQ. Anyway, their huge black dog rushed out and bit your scribe on the lower right leg. Good In Bed sprang into action, rushing him to Al-Salam Hospital for a tetanus in the usual place and then to several chemists’ before we found one next door to the Far East in New Maadi (perhaps your scribe should’ve popped into the Far East for a little sympathy and some pool practice – by the way the Hash pool team won in Mohandiseen on Wednesday) that sold the rabies serum. One of the chemists gave your scribe the first of the five rabies shots in the left upper arm (it used to be 21 injections in the tummy in the old days) and then off we headed back to the wadi. The Circular Shout Up We were back just in time for ‘Schwing Lowe’, being led by Gorillas. We unfortunately missed out on all the action and also the Saint Patrick’s drinks stop, Bailey’s I think.
