We were in the Protectorate again for Hash 1417, at the first RV on the left by the little broken-down building. There were lots of Hares and boy it was a hot one. We kicked off at 4pm and it was one of those Hashes where the trails hardly overlapped, except on the way in to the RV along the wadi floor. It was a special Hash, as we welcomed back two special friends: Tom and Betsy! Your scribe was with the runners, as we headed west along the wadi floor and back out of the gate to the Protectorate. We then ran along the ditch that goes, I think, to Maadi, then up the left side and onto a little hill for the first cheque. Then we ran through some small half-finished buildings, before heading southeastwards up a track. We paused for the second checc near another half-finished building, before a long haul, continuing east all the way along the southern cliff tops to the third Czech, past the first RV on the right in the Protectorate, where we had the RV last week.

After that, it was down the cliff, passing some old lentils, onto the valley floor and On-In, going west. The run took 1 hour 15 mins for the fast guys and the walk about 1 hr 30 mins.

Hugh J. Nuss punishes the Hares and then this week’s visitors: Mike Gogan’s dad (a teacher); Andra; Roy from Dubai; and Anne from Sunderland. Over to Gorillas, who calls up Easy Wife of Bam-Bam (cool matching bikini top and sandals); Psycho Tits; The Mystical One (turned up late); Marita; and Marie-Louise (welcome back). And now for a wee bit of raffling, with ML extracting Marita (takes a case of Saqqara), Alison drawing Marina (is my handwriting correct?) and Hala pulling Should’ve Been Blonde, who opts for the second case of Saqqara! We give these gorgeous girls a blast of the ‘4Skin Song’. They are followed by our old friends Jail Bait and Cradle Snatcher (Betsy and Tom), who are off soon to Uruguay to start a new teaching job. Tom then draws another raffle winner and it’s Tommy (Gorillas), whose wife instructs him to take the case of refreshing softies! Meanwhile, Bootstrap is provided with refreshments, along with the running Hares — Charlotte, Karim, Bad Lay and Useless — not all of whom actually did the run. And when four Hares drink! Frau Hund leads us all in ‘We’re up in the Morning’.

In fact, Frau Hund now takes the helm, inviting the non-signers-inners to partake of sherbets: Toby, Tom and Betsy, Useless and Bad Lay! In fact, Bad Lay signed neither in nor out. In honour of Tom and Betsy, we now sing ‘We Could’ve Seen the Pyramids’. Next, it’s Ken Davies, who gallantly conveyed the salads and beer to the Hash today, along with Dougal (cool Tartan shorts, made from a kilt by his wife) and Margaret, who kindly donated the Pitu to the raffle this week. Thanks too to Tommy and Val for donating the wine and Hala for helping on the beer-pouring front. The ale continues to flow for Frau Hund, who gets Marita to draw Herr Hund who opts for the white wine, while Bootstrap extracts Toby who makes a beeline for the red wine! Greased Palm joins them for flirting with Hala. Over to Herr Hund, who calls up Comes With Him and Ken Davies, whose birthdays occur at about this time. In the meantime, Marita draws Melts In Her Mouth (takes the red wine) and Sean (opts for the Pitu)!

And now John ‘Where’s the Poontang?’ Palmer is presented with a 25-run patch, while we also present Gaol Bait and Cradle Snatcher with their leaving mugs from last year. After that it’s time for this week’s namings — all five of them. That must be a CH3 record. John Palmer, Hala, Jasmine, Charlotte from Heidelberg and Karim who likes basketball get respectively named: Cucking Funt, Nipple Twister, Speechless, Hot Lips and Basket Case. In fact all the names were Cucking good. After that, we round off with ‘Schwing Lowe’ and then a delicious BBQ, the first of the year. Thank-you all the salad providers — Psycho Tits, Frau Hund, Nipple Twister and Putin Out — for the wonderful salads. The temperature had fallen a bit and it was now very pleasant. On-On!!
