Hash Trash 1423 was a small affair again, like last week, partly I think because it was soooo hot! We parked at the Information Centre and your scribe was with the walkers (blame it on weather), as we and the runners both headed down into the wadi, crossing it above the waterfall, below the Info Centre. The first cheque was on the far side, opposite the centre and at about the same height. It was one of those Hashers where the cars were rarely out of view, which meant that it was difficult to get lost. We pressed further south, while some folk turned back due to the heat. Most of us then veered east along a meandering side wadi, while some folk took the high ground. The second Cheque was further east and after that we turned back towards home, returning to the wadi, crossing it and heading up the cliffs again. On the way, Ken Davies, his son and your scribe spotted a baby lizard and a caterpillar. The walkers took 1 hour 30 mins and those diehard runners slightly less.

Hugh J. Nuss leaps into action, punishing the Hares, while Ranya was impressed with the run and Anita describes the walk as tiring. And now this week’s visitors receive refreshments, including a number of drop-dead gorgeous dolls. There was Lara Croft, a stunning starlet from Los Angeles; Ranya, a teacher at a senior school in Cape Horny; Olivia from Michigan, studying Arabic and teaching English; Catherine, 23 and from Naples; Maria, a tax specialist and stage enthusiast; and an Italian lady who works at the Italian Embassy who isn’t in fact a visitor. Over to Herr Hund, who invites our non-signers-in to partake of brewskis — Hossam, Anita and Cucking Funt (in fact he circled ‘Paid’). They are joined by Pete and the delightful Lara. By the way, thanks to Hanna for helping with the beer this week. Meanwhile, Should’ve Been Blonde, Tom Bruce and Hossam are called up for their excellent shouting of ‘On-On’ during the trails. Alison and the Italian lady are also suitably awarded.

Next, it’s Bottleneck and Bam-Bam, being joined by Useless for distributing empty down-downs. And now we need to consider naming Tom Bruce, an oil-well-drilling specialist from Aberdeen, who engineered today’s walking cheques in such a way that from two of them we could see the cars. Anita, also from Aberdeen, is punished for wearing a yellow, non-Hare Tea shirt. Easy Wife of Bam-Bam and Catherine partake of down-downs after that, for wearing bras in the Circle, as well as that liberated lady Frau Hund. We give them the ‘One Tit’ song, after which the dazzling Gigi extracts the odd raffle winner: Grubby Little Cheeks grabs the whisky (kindly donated by The Italian Blob), Pete scoops a case of Saqqara and Tobias snatches the other case of Saqqara! I think everyone got a d-d today, except the exquisite Boy Crazy.

Meanwhile, four walkers who turned back early today are furnished with beverages: Hoare House Hotel, Bam-Bam, Easy Wife of Bam-Bam and Rock Star. They are joined by three shortcutting runners: Cream Offovitch, Mike and Tobias, while Levantine Ibrahim also scores a sherbet. Over to Ranya, who extracts Mister Dog (settles for the red wine), Should’ve Been Blonde (zeroes in on the diet ‘Coke’), Hanna (confiscates the choccies), Spoilt Little Brat (gallantly demands a redraw) and Tobias (avails himself of the cleaning products). And now for the naming of Tommy. Many names are suggested, but we settle for Hibiscus Flower, brilliantly inspired by Lara. And finally we call up the Hares for Hash 1424, a BBQ event in the Protectorate, namely Olivia, Catherine, Cheeky Little Brat and Frau Hund, while our volunteer salad makers — Easy Wife Of Bam-Bam, Poontang Palmer and Should’ve Been Blonde — join them. So that was that. Later, about 25 of us headed up the Ithaki for another one of their tasty buffets and lots of beer. Whine Stopper, on a brief visit from Dubai, joined us, along with his habeeba. They’re in great shape. On-On!!
