Hash 1441, the first of November on the second of November, saw us at the Pharaonic Dam, where we hadn't been for a fair wee while. It also took a fair wee while for the Hares to get there, what with a police checkpoint on the Autostrade and the turnoff having been blocked off, which means having to drive further and doing a Ughie guv. We started at 2.20pm and your scribe took the more energetic waters up the southern cliffs, with Under D escorting the Mystical One eastwards along their base. We had the first Czech on top after a very steep climb. The view on top was breathtaking, after our breath had been taken by the climb. Wadi el-Garawi is certainly much broader than, say, Wadi Digla, as well as being quieter, cleaner and more remote. It were right windy as we headed along cliff tops lad, with the Pharaonic Dam clearly visible in the valley below to our left. It was a tricky struggle down off the far end of the cliffs, as the runners came rushing up past us, heading the way we’d just come from. There was a seond Czech at the bottom, where the more leisurely walkers were there to meet us. In fact, there was still quite a bit of negotiating before we actually hit the wadi floor, with Eric The Frog tripping at one point and doing a quite superlative and dramatic leap frog. The third checc was at what remains of the oldest dam in the world, but many walkers simply wandered past, back to the chariots. I guess they were tired. The walk took 1 hour 15 mins, the run a wee bit longer. By the way, thank-you to Skid Marks for generously sponsoring the plastic beakers at the Rehydration Hash last week.

HJN gets the Circle underway, punishing the Hares, with Useless getting the Pisser. They are followed by Mystic Meg, who announces that the On-On tonight is at her and Eric’s place in Road 12. She is followed by this week’s visitors: Jan, Daniel, Stuart from Brisbane, the glamorous Rosa from Angola, Lavine, Peter (working in cement), Vincent, Beccy (a teacher from Deutschland), Eva (teaches in Deutschland), Esther (teaches in Deutschland), Craig (a teacher of biology and chemistry in Wales boyo), Neil (a lawyer), Bristo and Celine, Mohamed and Gordena (an AUC graduate). Over to Mr Dog, who calls up wee Adam, for his cool, Scottish-style fancy dress, getting ready for tonight’s bash; Hani for knowing that Brave Fart’s real name was Willy Wallace; Hatem and Sherine (welcome back); and Ursula, a dudette who can really yodel. Refreshments then flow for those folk lost in the desert: Barbie, Spoilt Little Bratwurst (gets the Pisser), Useless, Mystic Mummy and Mystic’s friends, while I. Bin Faden and Di A. Reer really had disappeared. We give them a blast of ‘It’s a Hash House Sin’.

The sherbet continues to flow for Melts In Her Mouth, who is present with a fab 50-run Tea shirt and the Pisser, being followed by Erect Runner for organising such a terrific Rehydra Hash last week and marking the way in and out to the rendezvous so well. Various folk responsible for last week’s marvellous drinks stops and present today are also suitably punished: Melts In Her, Mama Dog, Spreads Easily, Underdeveloped, Should’ve Been Blonde, Squashed Balls, Spoilt Little Bratwurst and Barbie’s Squashed Balls (cool dancing at the Trinidadian Czech). And now for something vital and utterly indispensable: the dynamic Juerg from Switzerland, he of the spray-on shorts, picks up the splendid Hash Handle, Here's My Package. After that, we sing 'Dough the Thing' to Spreads Easily, who does a handstand for us and drinks her d-d upside down, along with a gentleman from Australia (gets the Pisser), Miss Saigon, Catherine, Frank and Alison. Frank receives another brewski for drinking out of his right hand, while the Hares for Hash 1442 are invited to partake of a gargle: Spoilt Little Frankfurter (gets the Pisser), Carmen, the gentleman from Australia and Catherine. They are joined by Mister Dog, for kindly donating the rum to the Trinidadian Czech last week.

And finally, Barbie, Mrs Dog, Sherine and Frank (gets the Pisser) kindly volunteer to make salads for Hash 1442. So that was that. All it remained for us to travel back from this peaceful, rubbish-free location to Maadi for Mystic Meg and Underdeveloped's Halloween party. On-On!!
