The Trail

We were in Wadi Hof for Hash 1463, at the tree by the cave to be precise - it's Rude Yard's favourite haunt and indeed he and Keer helped set the run before speeding back early to the capital before the Hash kicked off. Your scribe and Cucking Funt, who really had a lot of fun setting the walkers' trail on this beautiful day, did the unexpected, not heading northwest up the usual hill with the runners, but clambering up the cliffs to the northeast. Once on top there was a crafty back cheque created by Tit For Tat. Everyone swallowed the bait before we turned east along the cliff tops to the first cheque, where there was a super view of the cars. After a cheeky falsie, we scrambled up to the top of the next cliffs, passing some pretty flowers en route. The second Czech was on top and it was rather windy, detracting from the heat. From there it was a long, very Harey scramble down into the valley, where we experienced the third checc with more pretty flowers. We then turned right and wandered back to the RV. The walk and the run both took about 1 hour 25 mins today.

Hugh J. Nuss leaps into the fray, punishing the Hares, followed by this week's visitors, namely Jean-Claude (a landlord); Francine (a psychiatrist); Fabian from Bavaria; Senora from Norway; Hutze from Holland; a Dutch lass called Villy; Tickler; Angel; Louis; Dina the teacher; a sedimentologist from Yorkshire called Trouty; and our very own golfing wizard Steve Riddell. And now Athletic Supporter takes over, calling upon a French lad and the non-signers inners - Useless, Syrian Baklis and Fabian - to have down-downs, along with Tim Qoinder, who signed neither in nor out. And when two Hares drink! Over to Uncle Rossiter, who invites Austrian Werner to have a gargle, along with three beautiful lollypop-loving Hashettes - Inhee, Rose and Maria. Bobby Williams sneaks a sherb too, as Bad Lay distributes more of those formidable lollies. He then calls up Mike Cogan from Detroit, Wayne and The Dude from Denver (sounds like the title of a 1970s 'B' movie) and we give these worthy gentlemen a blast of 'Hashers Meet the Hashers'.

They are followed by the French lady, Doing It Backwards and Austrian Werner, while Bad Lay gives us some sexy statistics about Canada. He then provides us one of his absorbing music quizzes, with many talented Hashers getting the answers right and qualifying for sherbet, namely: Wayne, Athletic Supporter, Moira, Austrian Werner, Tit For Tat, Yasmine and Cucking Funt himself. And now Athletic Supporter takes the helm, distributing 25-run badges to Easy Rider and Seamen Enter, after which it's back to Uncle Rossiter, who reminds us that Tim Qoinder from Sussex, who's spent his life running towards and away from women, needs naming. Tim like rock 'n' roll, running and cycling. And when one Hare drinks! While we mull suitable sobriquets, Hugh J. Nuss launches the raffle, asking Should've Been Blonde to draw a few winners: Christian gets pulled twice (!), taking the Sambuca and the Bacardi, while Inhee sweeps the Guinness. Meanwhile, a gorgeous Egyptian lass extracts Michael the teacher (grabs the gin) and Can't Make Her Come (can make him drink Martini). And now Rose dips her hand in the hat and comes up with Tim (the Pimms old chap) and Fabian (sweet sherry).

Back to Bad Lay, who calls up four Hash worthies - Easy Rider (gets the Pisser), Uncle Wes, Athletic Supporter and Bobby, who leads us in 'In der Schule' and also qualifies for a Pisser. And now the naming of Tim. Many weird and wonderful suggestions are made, but we finally settle on one chosen by the imaginative Wayne - Rembrandt Pussy Whores (an album from the early 1980s, I believe). There is more action, as Steve Riddell and Useless drink from Steve's splendid, red size 14 trainers to the dulcet tones of 'What a Wink', before Hare Brain presents Christian with the Chain of Pain. We then wandered home, before many of us regrouped later at the Rugby Club for a beverage or two. On-On!!
