"She's a Sex Bomb through and through and so are you."

We were at the Information Centre in Upper Wadi Digla for Hash 1468 and it was warm with a bit of a breeze. Quite a few folks got lost on the way, but quite a few of them made it in the end. A bunch of folk had headed to Moon Beach for the away Hash, but a fair number still made it for the local event, with the intrepid Wayne even turning up in a taxi. Your scribe was with the runners, the others being Erect Runner (the running Hare) and Limp Noodle, as we ran past the Info Centre and headed down into the wadi on the eastern side of it. The first checc was on the valley floor and then Erect Runner and your scribe shortcutted to the second cheque (cool view of the cars, Tony), while the gallant Limp Noodle ran the trail to it. Meanwhile, Cream Offski, who'd arrived late in one of the cars that had got lost, stormed across the wadi to meet us at the second cheque, from where we wove our way down a narrow side valley to the southern cliffs of the main wadi again, for the third Czech. Noodle Cream and Limp Off then ran southwards again, past the walkers who'd gathered on a hill for their third checc. One of the walkers - Sara - had already headed home, having torn her trousers.

The runners' fourth chekk was back at the edge of the southern cliffs, near the top of Lower Wadi Digla. The runners then veered westwards, negotiating a falsie, before tumbling down into the far end of the Protectorate and then scrambling up the waterfall, while the walkers were coming down the other way, following Bad B's crafty falsie. Both runners and walkers were now nearly home. When we did hit the RV, after both trails lasting about 1 hour 15 mins, Athletic Supporter was there to greet us with Spritze made from rosé wine and tonic water. Very refreshing and it tasted rather like Campari.

Hugh J. Nuss kicks the Circle into gear, with Piet and his daughter Paula doing sterling service on the beer-pouring front. The Hares are then provided with refreshments, while Trevor, a 'honkie' based in Kenya, leads us in an African song. After them, Trevor receives another beverage for drinking out of his right hand, being joined by the other newcomers: young Hashettes Imogen (from New Zealand) and Kate; Jennifer (who's been living here for 21 years and whose baek was broken in March 2006 when a German Shepherd dog jumped off a balcony and she broke its fall in a garden at the Giza Pyramids); Sarah (studying English and business); Safaa (a yoga therapist now living in India and who last came on the Hash about 10 years ago!); Safaa's nine-year-old son, Harry Potter lookalike Nour; Michel (who's attended Hashes in the Ivory Coast and Cameroon) and his wife, Françaine; Natilde; Fanny from Switzerland; and the delightful Sandra from America, whose job involves influencing young minds. Meanwhile, Trevor gives us another song.

Wayne is now called up, for complaining about Bad B's walkers' trail, being joined by Hugh J. Nuss, Sandra and Harry Potter, who makes a terrific impact, telling us a witty Indian joke. Sandra and Moira are provided with nice Hash Tea shirts by our ever-so-obliging Haberdasher, Bottleneck. Wayne gives us a blast of the 'Chug a Lug' song. And now over to Athletic Supporter, who presents Doc Livingston with a tremendous 75-run Tea shirt, while two of the usual suspects are also punished - Useless (for not signing in) and the Siberian Sex Bomb (for not wearing a Hash Tea shirt). And now Bottleneck spearheads the raffle, requesting that Marie-Louise pull a winner or two. She obliges, extracting tickets belonging to the Siberian Sex Bomb (goes for the cool box); Brian (not the oil executive), who grabs a cool bag; Tom himself (gallantly demands a redraw); Austrian Werner (cool bag); Australian Alain (cool bag too); the delicious Sandra (yes, a cool bag); and Trevor (the sturdy pair of oven gloves). Wayne gives another song, before Bad B moves into action, in his capacity as stand-in RA, punishing Useless, Safaa and Jennifer for getting lost today, while Erect Runner took a leak on Bob's car. And there's now a big treat for Useless. He'd noticed that Erect Runner was wearing shoes that looked suspiciously new. Their owner stresses they aren't but the Circle begs to differ and Useless and ER drink out of them. That rounded off the Circle, before folk headed to the Bukhara, near the Corniche in Maadi for the On-On. On-On!!
