The Trail

We were near the Information Centre in Upper Wadi Digla for Hash 1469, not far from last week's RV, and it was a little warmer with less breeze. The Hash was at the earlier time of 3pm, to give folks the chance to get ready for the Rugby Club Ball. Your scribe was with the runners, as we headed eastwards. It wasn't too far to the first cheque, from which Wesley's flag was visible. We then headed down onto the wadi floor for the second Czech, followed by a false trail east up the wadi. Check out all those plastic bags, Brigadier! We retraced our steps past a bush with white berries, then up the southern cliffs and back down again. We now pressed westwards down the wadi to the third checc in the shadow of those mighty northern cliffs. We spotted a beautiful lizard blazing the trail ahead of us, as we scrambled up those same northern cliffs to the fourth checc on top, from where The Dude's flag was visible. From there it was on in, having crossed a side wadi. Slow coaches like your scribe took one hour to complete the run.

Hugh J. Nuss kicks the Circle into gear, punishing the visitors - Sanaa from Jordan, Beccy, a beautiful agricultural specialist who used to work in Tanzania and originally hails from Minnesota, and Christian, a German police officer on holiday here, for whom we sing, 'Why were they Born?' They are followed by the Hares and then three beautiful dolls - Tit For Tat, Sarah and Marie-Louise - whom we serenade with the 'Right Tit' song. Over to Frau Hund, who invites a bundle of folk lost in the desert to partake of sherbet: Marie-Louise, Amir (already gone), Useless, Doc Livingston, Sanaa, Safaa and Christian. Trevor leads us in 'They ought to be publicly pissed On'. He then leads us in another cool song, as he presents The Dude with an extraordinary 60-Hare award, being joined for a down-down by Erect Runner and Useless. They are followed by Barbie's Squashed Balls and Bab B - today's birthday boys. Then it's Barbie again and Uncle Rossiter, who get splendid 50 and 75 run Tea shirts respectively, before Barbie's called up a third time for drinking out of his right hand, with Useless joining him in sympathy.

Meanwhile, Gordon chooses three attractive ladies to drink with him - Inhee, Sanaa and Safaa - before the Siberian Sex Bomb announces next Friday's ACE Club felucca ride: LE100 including grub. And now over to our very own charismatic Uncle Rossiter, who starts off by hauling up Mr Dog, Should've Been Blonde and Pol Pot, because Plug ate Should've Been's sandwich. Next, Bad B grabs the Pisser for flirting on the Hash, being joined by Charlotte and I've Had A Haircut. We sing them 'What shall we do with the drunken Hashers?' They are followed by Jimmy Hendrix fans Easy Ride Hare (says Moon Beach was groovy woovy) and Austrian Werner. After that, it's Austrian Werner again, along with Joerg and Françine for being Swiss and we sing them, inspired by Trevor, 'Here's to Fellow Hashers'. Meanwhile, the parents of the promiscuous, hungry Plug are given refreshments, with Mrs Dog herself leading us in 'We're up in the Morning'.

Back over to Hugh J. Nuss, who himself indulges in Sakkara, along with Heinz (welcome back) and Christian, both German policemen, after which Comes Quietly launches the raffle, extracting Papa Dog (picks the Pimms), Papa Dog again (gallantly demands a redraw) and Alain (corners the navy rum). And now Rock Star draws Papa Dog again again (gallantly demands another redraw) and Heinrich (grabs the case of Heinie). The Siberian Sex Bomb starts extracting next, pulling Gary (obtains the case of Sakkara), Barbie's Squashed Balls (barbs the Campari), Barbie's Squashed Balls again (gallantly demands a redraw) and Christian the police officer (who performs a citizen's arrest on the red wine gallantly donated by Tit For Tat). Finally, Gary gets selected again and gallantly demands a redraw, while Easy Rider scoops the vodka. We sing them 'Why were they Born?' The Siberian Sex Bomb was inadvertently overlooked in the distribution of sherbets, so she now gets refreshments, while Françine drawa Heinrich (gallantly redonates), Heinz (lunges for the Martini) and Joerg (settles for the chocolate liqour and the ripper by Alf Hitchcock). Joerg stays up for drinking out of his right hand, being joined by Hugh J. Nuss as they've agreed to set Hash 1470. The On-On was at the Red Onion. On-On!!
