We were just inside the gate on the left in the Protectorate for Hash 1471. And boy was it hot! The Hares set the Trail at lunchtime and then we blasted into action at 4pm. Your scribe was a running Hare, as we struggled up the northern cliffs behind the broken-down hut, with the first cheque on top. The runners then described a semi-circle to the north, returning to the second Cheque on the clifftops, further east. In fact, your scribe took himself and some other exhausted runners on a sneaky shortcut from the first to the second checc (but that's just between you and me). From there, we trudged eastwards, then had a very steep scramble down back onto the wadi floor, before turning west into the sun and back up the wadi. The third chekk was by the new tree. Yes, although it looks old, it's new, replacing the one that, sadly, was truncated about two years ago. The polystyrene container in which the tree was transported into the wadi was still there, dumped nearby. I'm sure the money we spend on getting into the wadi, in order to protect the environment, will be used to remove the polystyrene soon. From there we headed back to the RV for lashings of cold water! The run took 1 hour 15 mins and the walk a hefty 1 hour 45 mins.

Hugh J. Nuss kicks the Circle into gear, punishing the Hares, for whom the Circle sing 'Shitty Trail'. They are followed by this week's visitors: Hung Vu from Vietnam, an IT manager with a cool camera; Yasmine; Steve (Broken Paw), who recently had his hand crushed by 20 tons of steel in the course of his work as a senior offshore oil executive; Joerg's brother, Michael; and Alexandrian John, who has lived on Egypt's North Coast on and off for the past 15 years, buying and selling antique furniture. We give them a blast of 'We Could've Seen the Pyramids'. And now over to Athletic Supporter, who punishes the usual suspect, Useless, for not signing in and he has a special treat - Suzanne, Christine and Sara join him. Then Bottleneck is presented with a fabulous 10 Hare mug. And when one Hare drinks! Mister and Missus Dog who are leaving us soon are hauled up next, along with Bad Lay for also being Welsh, after whom another Steve (who works in oil) receives a beverage for having a Welsh wife, and Moira for being Scottish like Steve (Bad Lay), who now takes the helm, punishing Sarah, who stalked Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton when she was a girl, Wayne and Delhi Belly (a senior Canadian diplomat).

Delhi Belly, from Ottawa, is kindly asked to partake of further refreshments, as well as those citizens present from other capital cities - Uncle Rossiter (Edinburgh), Hung Vu (the capital of South Vietnam) and the sizzling Sarah (London). The fun continues as The Lion Farted (CH3's new Hash Cash) and Claire are provided with suitable lubrication, being succeeded by Brian, a geophysicist from Lafayette and working for Schlumberger, who needs naming. The name Needs To Be Slapped Purple is conjured up by the second Steve working in oil and gets selected by popular acclamation. As he is christened, we sing him 'I Like You, You like Me', before The Dude launches this week's raffle, calling on Yasmine to extract a winner or two: Bottleneck (goes for the case of Heinie); Bottleneck again (gallantly demands a redraw); The Lion Farted (the Tia Maria); and Stuart (the Jim Beam). We give them a blast of the 'Countdown Song', before a spot more raffling, with Christinc selecting Wayne (the Pimms), the second Steve who works offshore (some sort of curious booze), Gary (a cooler bag) and Moira (another cooler bag). And now the Siberian Sex Bomb goes into raffle extracting mode, choosing John from Alex (another cooler bag), Christine (a water bottle holder), the the second Steve who works offshore (gallantly demands a redraw), Bottleneck again (again gallantly demands a redraw) and Athletic Supporter, who opts for the orange and white plastic flask for holding drinks.

We are now reminded about the On-On at the Dragon House, while Mister and Mrs Dog announce their final Hash at the Camping Site in the Protectorate, while Catherine, Wayne and Pin Pricked kindly offer to prepare salads for the said event, which will be a BBQ Hash. We sing them 'What Shall we do with the Drunken Sailor?', before Trevor and Delhi Belly round us off with 'Schwing Lowe'. On-On!!
