We were in the Wadi Protectorate for Hash 1488, about 4.2 miles inside on the left at what is known as the Camping Site. We started at the earlier time of 3pm, in fact 3.15pm by the time everyone had got their act together. Numbers were up and Hugh J. Nuss began by introducing a chunky bunch of visitors: Hannah from Australia; Ed from Boston who works for the CIA; Liyoni from Perth in Australia; GP, a Belgian construction supervisor; Anna from Belgium; Andrew from New York; Weirda (Indonesia); Jenny; Sarah (Londinium); Rachel (the US); Melanie (Rhode Island); Rob, a student of Arabic from Virginia; Martina from Sweden; Sherif from Egypt; Leena from Sweden; Ned (California); Britney, from New Hampshire and engaged in African studies; Choice, a biomedical engineering student from Florida; Desiree from Nebraska; Becca, a maths undergraduate, also from Nebraska; and Joe, a student from Indiana.

Then off we went, with the Hares equipped with generous pretend Bristols, on this the First Annual Bosoms Hash. Your scribe was with the Hares as we headed up the north cliffs, as did the walkers, only they headed up a different bit to our right, nearer the cars. Once on top, there was a running Circle and Useless sneaked a shortcut with some help from that solidest of Hares, 1900 Sheep Dater. The walkers had a cheque on top and we runners had one further in, on top of the next cliffs, near in fact to the New Ain Sukhna Road — the Luxor beer ad was visible on the road from the check. There were two ingenious false trails which crossed each other and led in a loop back to the Czech. Of course, the super-fit Rude Yard overshot the circular FT and found the trail for later on in the run, from where he returned to the RV. Meanwhile, we lesser mortals ran back towards that huge side valley before the main wadi for the second check, from where we could see the walkers reaching their second check on top of the cliffs from where we had just come.

Then we ran back up to the top of the same cliffs, back towards the New Ain Sukhna Road, before veering west into the sun for a little while. After the third checc, we turned for home, charging across the large side wadi at its western end and then down the cliffs, back to the RV. It's still very warm these days, but not terribly hot. The run took 1 hour 5 mins, the walk a little longer. A splendid punch drink awaited us at the RV.

Hugh J.Nuss invites up the male visitors, for whom we sing, ‘Here’s to Brother Hashers’, led by Wayne. More dudes then indulge in refreshments, including I.P. Freely, Barbie’s Squashed Balls, Austrian Werner, Easy Ride Herr and others, while Rudie leads us in the ‘Roll Back Song’. Over to Bad B, who calls up lots of attractive female visitors, including one in cool cowboy (or should that be cowgirl?) boots. Meanwhile, Hugh J. Nuss encourages the other female guests to indulge in refreshments, to the tune of the ‘Right Tit’ song. And now Melon F***er takes the helm, inviting oodles of non-signers to get a brewski down their necks: Scottish Michael, Flusher, Trevor and Useless (!), as well as visitors GP, Angwitem (it must be my writing again), Britney, Melanie, Choice and Sarah. This is followed an important award, Austrian Werner receiving a 25-run patch. Next, I Can’t Keep Her Coming asks the Hares to partake of a sherbet, while Useless and Trevor describe the run and the walk respectively as ‘fantastic’. (The Hares can give us the baqqsheesh later).

Meanwhile, the children are given water and we sing them the ‘Zumba’ song. This is followed by something very important: three namings. Two of them were Hares today — Diane and Olaf — and they received the splendid handles Texs Gee Ha and Sweaty Viking, while Flora’s son Erik is given the equally splendid moniker Obama Bin Hashing. Back to Hugh J. Nuss, who calls on Becca to commence the draw. She obliges, drawing the ticket of a homespun English lass who opts for the thermos and Bailey’s; Castrati (red wine); and Alain (the Southern Comfort). Over to Desiree who extract Jordanian Bassem twice. He ends up with the barrel of Heineken and several half-finished bottles of spirits. Choice finally extrapolates Barbie’s Squashed Balls, who swipes several more half-finished bottles of spirits. Jordanian Bassem and Choice round us off with ‘Schwing Lowe’, before we tuck into a fabulous end-of-season barbeque. Your scribe and about eight other dudes and dudettes squeezed into KD’s motor to get a lift home. On-On!!
