The
Trail
Hi everyone. Here are
the excellent notes made by Easy Ride Herr at the 17th
Annual Rehydration Hash in early November, which was attended by around 120
people on a very sunny and warm afternoon. The sky was blue; indeed the weather
was perfect for this extraordinary event. Folk began to register at midday,
receiving an excellent Tea-shirt, a mug, paying zee fees (members LE30,
non-members LE50). The virgins included:
1.) John, UK - doin nothing
2.) Pete, UK - UNIDO Group
3.) Kalvin, UK - recruitment
4.) Mike, UK - recruitment
5.) Yasser ¡®Arafat¡¯, ex-Palestine (smile....)
6.) Rebecca, a very young and very pretty
teacher from Heidelberg/Germany (teaching at the DEO in Doggy äh Dokkie).
At 1.05pm sharp, Bad B explained the
¡®rules¡¯, omitting to mention that everybody would/could get very pissed, that
the tents will be crowded with a lot of erected hashers. He thanked the
sponsors (I don't remember them all), but they included Max¡¯s restaurant in
Maadi, Boogey, Wesley¡¯s Boxer-dog (see back side of the RHH Tea-shirt). Bob
announced that we would have a lot of stops with surprises, and in the evening
a bonfire, BBQ and music. Anyway, the walk went to the west and the run to the
east, but we met at the stopps. The walk was in a flat and hilly area with
large, large views. 1st STOPP: Scotland, with Moira (the attractive teacher
from the British Council) and her boyfriend Ted Ray alias Doctor Livingston. We
drink rusty nails (whisky with Drambuie) and eat deep-fried Mars bars and
smoked salmon, to typical Scottish bagpipe music. There was also a fabulous
sporting challenge – wellie throwing and the wellie soon got lost. Lars
mentioned that his little son Eric (alias Obama Bin Hashing) will become the
next US President. The lovely Ronja was introduced to your scribe by John at
this check, while Tania from Georgia could not remember her name.
2nd. STOPP: Austria with Werner Bluutza
and Kerstin (must still be named, but still too afraid); a table in a deep
bushy area with a nice Austrian wine called Stift Kloster Neuberg Chardonay,
tasty bread with liver paté and red paprika, Selchfleisch (ironed meat) and of
course English mustard. There was also typical Austrican folk music like
Kraftwerk¡¯s ¡®Autobahn¡¯, Udo Juergens¡¯ ¡®Merci¡¯ (from 1966), Ticky Martins ¡®She
Moves¡¯ and last but not least ¡®Falco¡¯ with Wiener Blut! 3rd STOPP:
Chinese, with Huang Wan Tan, Ho Ching Peng Teng and Maoam, offering lichee
juice, Sake, Nasi Goreng, Tsin Tao beer and music: David Bowie¡¯s ¡®My little
China Girl¡¯. 4th STOPP: UK, with Julie and Dave offering cheese and
biscuits, ham and eggs, Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic, to the dulcet tones of
¡®It¡¯s been a Hard Day¡¯s Night¡¯. Julie said: "Dave + I were enjoying a
quiet Friday pm in the desert when from over the hill we spied a Mauritanian
horde of Hashers ¡®descendragon¡¯ (?!) us demanding G + T and cheese + biccies.
5st. STOPP: Switzerland with Juerg, Ursel,
Sabine and Ciderman, offering Suisse cheese with – unfortunately - too many
holes, Suisse Schnapps, music (Heidi from the Alps and the AlmÖhi). 6th STOPP:
Dutch with Anneka and very dark brown and long sausages, which the girlies had
to eat them without their hands from a height of about 1.8m, hooked on a line,
orange bitters, Schnapps, cucumbers + carrots. We were surrounded by millions
of old shells and stones and bones. 7th and last STOPP: USA, with Castrati,
Dianne, Mara, Carolyn, Sissy and Rude Yard offering a lot of beers
(Sakkara, Luxor), cookies, Big Macs, Long Island tea, peanut butter, jam and
twinkies; dance floor music in the sand of the Sahara by the cool Creedence
Clearwater Revival Band, plenty of groovy Charles Brown, Chubby Checker and
lots and lots of Free Jazz.
The Circular
Shout Up
There was no formal
Circle. After all the drinking, we had an excellent evening with a lot of
music, dancing, BBQ and bonfire. Around 15 fools stayed there overnight. There
were some funny goings-on: some people decided to get married and Austrian
Werner¡¯s car broke, but hopefully not very seriously. The morning after was
terrible, but Bad B and Charlotte cooked up a very, very cool breakfast.
Mecki (your scribe¡¯s pug) became a dragon dog because little Eric tightened his
leaseh. We need another nice event like this soon. On-On!!
Good to the Last Drop (GttLD); Whore House Hotel (WH2); Bad Bastard (BB); Pissed N Broke (PnB); EZ Wife of Brian (EZ); Hugh J. Nuss (HjN) and visitor hare Virgin Captain (VC).
