The Trail

 

The dynamic EZ Ride Herr was unable to make it for the Hash on 6/3/9, so here¡¯s the excellent St. Patrick¡¯s Day (or Green Tea) Hash report, 5.6km inside the lovely Lower Wadi Digla Protectorate. The Hares organised an original Irish St. Patrick¡¯s band, all in green, with banjo, tamborine and big harmonica (always the Bumm-Bumm-Song). The weather was absolutely great, blue sky and sunny. Flag Officer Hubbard welcomed all new virgins:

1)      Jacqueline from Belgium (works for that famous airline BanAm);

2)       Ahmed, from Egypt, a car dealer

3)       Christopher, an Ahly Football Club supporter from Manchester; his heroes in the team include Abou Tarek, Shekebala, Agougou, Filavio, Gilberto, Barakat, Abou Leila and Abou Treka

4)      Ahlett from Belgium, a raclette-saler (sounds dead qewl, dude!)

5)       Geo, a bachelor from the US

6)       Christina, a nurse from Virginia (US), working during her holidays as a volunteer for the NGO Operation Smile

7)       Veronica, a professional photographer from Virgina (US), also working on a voluntary basis for Operation Smile

8)       Don Carlos, a dentist from Peru, also working also during his holidays for Operation Smile (so far these three nice people have performed 96 surgical operations for 96 children in Egypt over the past 10 days, free of charge!!! Throughout the world, Operation Smile volunteers do wonderful work repairing childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. In November, Operation Smile Egypt, in collaboration with Operation Smile and Qena General Hospital, conducted its first international medical mission in Qena. Free physical examinations were provided for 329 children and young adults and 108 received reconstructive surgery. This year, similar good work has already been done in Assiut, also in Upper Egypt, as well as in Benha in the Delta. Well done, Christina, Veronica and Don! After welcoming all virgins, a very nice walk and run started. Everybody was very thirsty today because it was really very hot! The walk and the run were very tough and long, with a lot of hills and rocks, but we enjoyed a very well-organised drinks stop in the middle of the desert.

The Circular Circle

 

Wesley opened the Circle after all the walkers and runners had arrived and honoured Peter (also known as Zee Machine) because he was the fastest runner: only 29 minutes instead 1 hour 10 mins, which was worthy of a big DD. The 1st DDs went to all new Virgins with the song: ¡®Beer-beer, lots a lot of beeeeeeer!!!¡¯ and then the next DD to Alexandria for walking like a sissy. After that, the Hares, all seasoned alcoholics, were given refreshments, followed by the Irish musicians who played ¡®Danny Boy¡¯ in the middle of the Circle, for Claire¡¯s ears only, while Rebecca (Becky) sang for them: ¡®They are Hashers through and through¡¯. Then another DD for old timer Stewart and the lovely Rebecca for chattering too much in the Circle. Of course, all the non-in-signers today, got incredible DDs: Flora, Frank, Stewart and Finn (The Beaver) – three times. Rudie Yard got a DD because today he was the 2nd fastest runner.

We had a splendid raffle today; because Julie was selling the tickets together with Kerstin (still must be named). The Religious Adviser Richard then had to pick out some naughty Hashers like Bill, Andrea, Megan, the Irish Piper and White Gorilla (?) for nor respecting Hash silence, as well as little Adam for another new haircut! Rudie sang the ¡®4Skin Song¡¯. Roll it back, ya Basha!. He himself got the next DD, as well Adam (again), Cyril and the Hares with ¡®Beer..., beer...., to buy me a beer,¡¯ sang by the world famous tenor Rude Yardovich! Kerstin announced the first prize: a Siemens washing machine, only 10 years old but still working; Steve won twice – two shopping vouchers worth LE30 each at ¡®Alfa Market¡¯ in Maadi and he gallantly gave one back. Pierre from France got a DD for heaving today: (Ce n¡¯est pas tres bien, mais ce ne pas un grand probleme!), as well as Three Dogs *ucking for wearing green not pink. Then Stewart punished Megan + Collin, The Dude + Kim, Megan again + Veronika, Julie + Andrea and one DD for Gordon because of being the winner of the last prize: a taxi ride from ACE Club to Lower Wadi Digla Protectorate. After closing the circle we had a lovely time together will green beer and a lot of fun and nice music. Another super CH3 and the On-On was at the ACE. On-On!!
