Quotes of the Day
¡°I¡¯ll
give you something to smile about.¡±
The Trail
We have the dynamic
Jacqueline Adams to thank for this week¡¯s excellent Trash after an excellent
Hash. The weather was hot and sweaty,
with some dust thrown this
week, with a special Hash to raise money for a good
cause. Thirty-five walkers completed the gruelling hike up the
canyon.The walk took an entire
fifteen minutes for the sporty amongst us, twenty for the slow-pokes.It was appraised as ¡°too short,¡±
¡°sh*tty,¡± and ¡°too cold.¡± Some suffering walkers were punished with
a peep show from Rick bending over in his red dress. Apparently for the
runners, the view at the top of the 50¡¯ high cliff was worth the exertion –
untilthey had to run right back down, and then up again, and then right
back down.One intrepid runner concluded
it was ¡°death while doing it, but satisfying afterwards.¡±
The Circular Circle
Hugh J.
Nuss, simply smashing in his red dress and
matching accessories, opened the circle.
The A-team of Assembled Idiots (i.e. first
group of Virgins) included Moose, a business translator; Karim the tour
operator (offering hot chicks and cheap prices); Jamie the
philanthropist from the
UK, working for Oxfam; Paul, who does something with
models (hmm¡¦); plucky Poles Hot Shot and Dry Cup;
Sharif the sugar trader; three Op Smile dentists; and Spotted Dick
from Oman, who donated a round-trip ticket to Bangkok for the auction.Reporter Sven Sprint – inhis own whore-couture
ensemble – condemnedall those not sporting a red dress to a down-down.Cups were raised for Han Soloon this, his
last Cairo Hash.
The Red Dress Charity
Once all were
liquored up on beer and stuffed with hot dogs, the raffle and auction began for
Operation Smile. Managed in Egypt by Car Phoqqa (Megan Moran), Op Smile provides free cleft lip and cleft palate
surgery for children. Cross-dressers Russ and Gerhard fondled the auction
items, getting everyone to hand over their cash.Indefatigable Hashers stayed well past sunset and through a
sandstorm to finish the raffle (lipo, anyone?), seeing who would
outbid each other for all
that fab booze. Megan M.Moran, Country
Director, Operation Smile Egypt (megan.moran@operationsmile.org),
thanked her fellow Cairo Hash House Harriers for
an amazing Red Dress Hash. Thedaywas fantastic, the outfits were spectacular, and
the auction/raffle wasbeyond her imagination. During the event Operation
SmileEgypt collected a wonderful LE23,221 ($4,152), which is enough money to give 17 children the chance of anew life
and a whole new reason to smile. Everyone was extremely generous withtheir
donations and was quick to pay up for their auction items.
Fineka
generously doubling the amount she made sellingbagsand aprons, donating
the proceeds of the sales of that day to OperationSmile, over LE3,000. She has also
agreed to continueto donate the sales of the bags to Operation Smile for the
foreseeable future, which is very generous of her. Megan also thanked the hard
working Committee of the Hash for organising the event, selling raffle tickets, hosting the
auction, and selling drinks and food. They were, are and always will be truly indispensable. Megan
would like more members of the community to get
involved. They are alwayslookingfor more volunteers, especially nurses. She is more than happy
to do presentations at schools to try and get them and the children
to participate. The British International School held afundraiser
for the cause this spring and the American International
School hosted awalk-a-thon, so schools can
play a very important role in helping Operation Smile.On-On!!
